Airport Dreams

from Light And Colour by Summertime's End

/

about

Dating back to the months immediately after With Love's release comes this track, an Owl City-inspired song about taking off on a flight to a honeymoon. It took a long time to finish this one, and it was a relief to finally get it done. I'd call it the new Away in terms of its sound and its function on the album, and I think some people will like it more than me... anyway, I hope you do!

lyrics

Fill your head with airport dreams
Cloudy days and silver beams of light
As we take off into the night

Engines scream the liftoff noise
Close your eyes and drift off to the sound
And leave your worries back on the ground

Show me how to love
Show me how to dream
Close your eyes and take me to a place I've never been

Up above the sky
It's never been so clear
Don't forget to smile as you leave the atmosphere
My dear

Nighttimes when we counted stars
Freezing rain and windy afternoons
As the winter took over June

City dates and bus delays
I once thought those old days were all gone
But now in dreams they all live on

Are you here
Or are you somewhere far beneath the clouds
When we fly and breathe the sky
Don't ever look back down
