I will admit to drawing inspiration for this song from Owl City's If My Heart Were A House. I listened to that song and was left in awe at how powerful yet romantic it was, and how perfect it would be for a boy and girl to call 'their song'. I'd dedicated songs to Hayley before, but here was a thought - why not write my own? Very few couples in the world have 'their song' written by one of them, but Hayley and I do, and we like it that way. I wanted a song with big drums, memorable lyrics, a gentle verse, and a loud, powerful chorus - and I feel that I achieved that with In Stereo. My favourite part of the song is the refrain "our hearts beat in stereo", which is a great sentiment for expressing love, and a very original one-liner to sum us up.
