There's Room On My Trolley For Two

from Light And Colour by Summertime's End

/

about

Back by popular demand is a new, remixed version of the original trolley ballad. In this version I improved pretty much everything music-wise and wrote a new verse. This song was Hayley's 20th birthday present, so it's probably the oldest track on the album. It details a moment out of our lives one night as we waited in a carpark (parking lot for those of you from the US), from the perspective of "if life were a musical".

lyrics

All alone in a carpark at night
Sitting still on a trolley by streetlight
And lonely again
I watch the cars going by

Suddenly, she appears next to me
Though I'm startled, I smile politely
And talking to pretty girls is hard
But I'll try

So I say
Hey, you're real pretty
And it'd be a pity
To not sit here with you
'Cause there's room on my trolley for two

When she moves, it's only with grace
When she smiles, well, I'm stunned by her face
And when she sits at my side
I know I've been blessed

And I know I'm no Romeo yet
But please sit next to me, Juliet
And a carpark is no place for love
But I'm doing my best
